He dug out the wells that had been dug during his father Abraham’s lifetime. The Philistines had filled them in after Abraham’s death. He gave them the same names that his father had given them.

Then Abraham complained to Abimelech about a well which Abimelech’s servants had seized.

Abraham answered, “Accept these lambs from me so that they may be proof  that I dug this well.”

This is why that place is called Beersheba, because both of them swore an oath there.

So Isaac moved away. He set up his tents in the Gerar Valley and lived there.

Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and found a spring-fed well.

He built towers in the desert. He dug many cisterns because he had a lot of herds in the foothills and the plains. He had farmers and vineyard workers in the mountains and the fertile fields because he loved the soil.

Those who quickly chase after other gods multiply their sorrows. I will not pour out their sacrificial offerings of blood or use my lips to speak their names.

I won’t allow her to say the names of other gods called Baal. She will never again call out their names.

“On that day,” declares the Lord of Armies, “I will wipe away the names of the idols from the land. They will no longer be remembered. I will also remove the ⌞false⌟ prophets and the unclean  spirit from the land.

Nebo, Baal Meon (whose names were changed), and Sibmah. These are the names they gave the cities they rebuilt.
