So Lot went out and spoke to the men engaged to his daughters. He said, “Hurry! Get out of this place, because the Lord is going to destroy the city.” But they thought he was joking.

As soon as they were outside, one ⌞of the angels⌟ said, “Run for your lives! Don’t look behind you, and don’t stop on the plain. Run for the hills, or you’ll be swept away!”

Run there quickly, because I can’t do anything until you get there.” (The city is named Zoar [Small].)

The Lord said to Noah, “Go into the ship with your whole family because I have seen that you alone are righteous among the people of today.

I will give them the same attitude and the same purpose so that they will fear me as long as they live. This will be for their own good and for the good of their children.

“Leave it, my people! Run for your lives! Run from the burning anger of the Lord.

He said to the community, “Move away from the tents of these wicked men. Don’t touch anything that belongs to them, or you’ll be swept away because of all their sins.”

Yet, God rescued Lot, a man who had his approval. Lot was distressed by the lifestyle of people who had no principles and lived in sexual freedom.

Since the Lord did all this, he knows how to rescue godly people when they are tested. He also knows how to hold immoral people for punishment on the day of judgment.

I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of Babylon, my people, so that you do not participate in her sins and suffer from any of her plagues.
