When your ancestors went with Jacob to Egypt ⌞and were oppressed⌟, they cried out to the Lord, who sent Moses and Aaron to bring them out of Egypt. The Lord settled them in this place.

The Lord will provide justice for his people and have compassion on his servants.

The Lord our God brought us and our ancestors out of slavery in Egypt. He did these spectacular signs right before our eyes. He guarded us wherever we went, especially as we passed through other nations.

Right before our eyes the Lord did miraculous signs and amazing things that were spectacular but terrible for Egypt, Pharaoh, and his whole family.

But you are the people the Lord brought out of Egypt, the iron smelter, in order to make you his own people as you still are today.

He sent miraculous signs and amazing things into the heart of Egypt against Pharaoh and all his officials.

I have sinned against you, especially you. I have done what you consider evil. So you hand down justice when you speak, and you are blameless when you judge.

Now, go! I am sending you to Pharaoh so that you can bring my people Israel out of Egypt.”

He remembered his holy promise to his servant Abraham.

Then Israel said to Joseph, “Now I’m about to die, but God will be with you. He will bring you back to the land of your fathers.

At last Joseph said to his brothers, “I’m about to die. God will definitely take care of you and take you out of this land to the land he swore with an oath to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

At midnight the Lord killed every firstborn male in Egypt from the firstborn son of Pharaoh who ruled the land to the firstborn son of the prisoner in jail, and also every firstborn animal.

God also told him, ‘I will punish the people whom they will serve. After that, they will leave that country and worship me here.’
