(The people who lived in Sodom were very wicked. They committed terrible sins against the Lord.)

He was a mighty hunter whom the Lord blessed. That’s why people used to say, “⌞He’s⌟ like Nimrod, a mighty hunter whom the Lord blessed.”

In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, because the sin of the Amorites will not have run its course until then.”

The Lord also said, “Sodom and Gomorrah have many complaints against them, and their sin is very serious.

because we’re going to destroy this place. The complaints to the Lord against its people are so loud that the Lord has sent us to destroy it.”

Er angered the Lord. So the Lord took away his life.

The world was corrupt in God’s sight and full of violence.

He burned his son as a sacrifice, consulted fortunetellers, cast evil spells, and appointed ⌞royal⌟ mediums and psychics. He did many things that made the Lord furious.

If the Lord of Armies hadn’t left us a few survivors, we would have been like Sodom and Gomorrah.

“⌞Say this⌟ about the prophets of Jerusalem: I see something horrible. The prophets of Jerusalem commit adultery and live a lie. They support those who do evil so that no one turns back from his wickedness. They are all like Sodom to me, and those who live in Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.”

“No one can hide so that I can’t see him,” declares the Lord. “I fill heaven and earth!” declares the Lord.

“If you don’t do all these things, you will be sinning against the Lord. You can be sure that you will be punished for your sin.

Later Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house. Many tax collectors and sinners came to eat with Jesus and his disciples.

Learn what this means: ‘I want mercy, not sacrifices.’ I’ve come to call sinners, not people who think they have God’s approval.”

So once again the Jews called the man who had been blind. They told him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man who gave you sight is a sinner.”

We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners. Instead, he listens to people who are devout and who do what he wants.

Likewise, their men have given up natural sexual relations with women and burn with lust for each other. Men commit indecent acts with men, so they experience among themselves the punishment they deserve for their perversion.

No creature can hide from God. Everything is uncovered and exposed for him to see. We must answer to him.

This is especially true of those who follow their corrupt nature along the path of impure desires and who despise the Lord’s authority. These false teachers are bold and arrogant. They aren’t afraid to insult the ⌞Lord’s⌟ glory.

What happened to Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities near them is an example for us of the punishment of eternal fire. The people of these cities suffered the same fate that God’s people and the angels did, because they committed sexual sins and engaged in homosexual activities.

And the Lord sent you on a mission. He said, ‘Claim those sinners, the Amalekites, for me by destroying them. Wage war against them until they’re wiped out.’

The sin of Eli’s sons was a serious matter to the Lord, because these men were treating the offerings made to the Lord with contempt.
