Then God said, “Let the water under the sky come together in one area, and let the dry land appear.” And so it was.

God named ⌞what was above⌟ the horizon sky. There was evening, then morning—a second day.

You alone are the Lord. You made heaven, the highest heaven, with all its armies. You made the earth and everything on it, the seas and everything in them. You give life to them all, and the armies of heaven worship you.

He marks the horizon on the surface of the water at the boundary where light meets dark.

“He stretches out his heavens over empty space. He hangs the earth on nothing whatsoever.

You lay the beams of your home in the water. You use the clouds for your chariot. You move on the wings of the wind.

He gathers the water in the sea like a dam and puts the oceans in his storehouses.

The sea is his. He made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

All streams flow into the sea, but the sea is never full. The water goes back to the place where the streams began in order to ⌞start⌟ flowing again.

Don’t you fear me?” asks the Lord. “Don’t you tremble in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, a permanent barrier that it cannot cross. Although the waves toss continuously, they can’t break through. Although they roar, they can’t cross it.

Jonah answered them, “I’m a Hebrew. I worship the Lord, the God of heaven. He is the God who made the sea and the land.”

They are deliberately ignoring one fact: Because of God’s word, heaven and earth existed a long time ago. The earth ⌞appeared⌟ out of water and was kept alive by water.

He swore an oath by the one who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and everything in it, the earth and everything in it, and the sea and everything in it. He said, “There will be no more delay.
