God put them in the sky to give light to the earth,
I will put my rainbow in the clouds to be a sign of my promise to the earth.
“Have you ever given orders to the morning or assigned a place for the dawn
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name throughout the earth! Your glory is sung above the heavens.
When I look at your heavens, the creation of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have set in place—
“This is what the Lord says: Suppose you could break my arrangement with day and night so that they wouldn’t come at their proper time.
“This is what the Lord says: Suppose I hadn’t made an arrangement with day and night or made laws for heaven and earth.
The Lord gave us the following order: ‘I have made you a light for the nations so that you would save people all over the world.’ ”
