They were appointed to stand beside Aaron’s descendants to serve in the Lord’s temple. They were appointed to be in charge of the courtyards and the temple rooms, to ensure that all the holy things were clean, and to serve in God’s temple.

Ahijah, a Levite, was in charge of the treasuries in God’s temple and the treasuries of the gifts dedicated to God.

When they finished, they brought the rest of the money to the king and Jehoiada, who used it to make utensils for the Lord’s temple. They made dishes and gold and silver utensils for the service and for the offerings. As long as Jehoiada lived, they sacrificed burnt offerings in the Lord’s temple.

20 gold bowls weighing 18 pounds apiece, and two utensils of fine polished bronze that were as precious as gold.

Every Israelite man and woman who was willing brought all these items to the Lord as a freewill offering. They brought these items to be used to make everything the Lord had commanded through Moses.

Run away! Run away! Get away from there! Do not touch anything unclean. Get away from it! Make yourselves pure, you Levites who carry the utensils for the Lord’s temple.

He brought a silver plate that weighed 3¼ pounds and a silver bowl that weighed 1¾ pounds, using the standard weight of the holy place. Each dish was filled with flour mixed with olive oil as a grain offering.

About the tribe of Levi he said, “Your Thummim and Urim  belong to your faithful people. You tested your people at Massah. You quarreled with them at the oasis of Meribah.
