Exodus 24:8

God's Word

Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people and said, “Here is the blood which seals the promise that the Lord has made to you based on everything you have just heard.”

I’ve made a place there for the ark which contains the Lord’s promise that he made to our ancestors when he brought them out of Egypt.”

There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets Moses put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a promise to the Israelites after they left Egypt.

I will sprinkle clean water on you and make you clean  instead of unclean. Then I will cleanse you from all your idols.

Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was on the altar, sprinkled it on Aaron and his clothes and on his sons and their clothes. In this way he dedicated Aaron, his clothes, his sons, and their clothes.

“This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit remains with you. Don’t be afraid.

I will set your captives free from the waterless pit because of the blood that sealed my promise  to you.

This is my blood, the blood of the promise. It is poured out for many people so that sins are forgiven.

He said to them, “This is my blood, the blood of the promise. It is poured out for many people.

When supper was over, he did the same with the cup. He said, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new promise  made with my blood.”

Through the blood of his Son, we are set free from our sins. God forgives our failures because of his overflowing kindness.

The Lord our God made a promise  to us at Mount Horeb.

What do you think a person who shows no respect for the Son of God deserves? That person looks at the blood of the promise (the blood that made him holy) as no different from other people’s blood, and he insults the Spirit that God gave us out of his kindness. He deserves a much worse punishment.

The God of peace brought the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus, back to life through the blood of an eternal promise.

That day Joshua made an agreement for the people and set up laws and rules for them at Shechem.

God the Father knew you long ago and chose you to live holy lives with the Spirit’s help so that you are obedient to Jesus Christ and are sprinkled with his blood. May good will  and peace fill your lives!
