But some of them didn’t listen to Moses. They kept part of it until morning, and it was full of worms and smelled bad. So Moses was angry with them.

Then Moses said to them, “No one may keep any of it until morning.”

Each morning they gathered as much food as they could eat. When the sun was hot, it melted away.

So they saved it until the next morning as Moses had commanded, but it didn’t smell or have worms in it.

(Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on earth.)

Moses became angry and said to the Lord, “Don’t accept their offering. I haven’t taken anything from them, not even a donkey. And I haven’t mistreated any of them.”

“Stop storing up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moths and rust destroy and thieves break in and steal.

When Jesus saw this, he became irritated. He told them, “Don’t stop the children from coming to me. Children like these are part of God’s kingdom.

Jesus was angry as he looked around at them. He was deeply hurt because their minds were closed. Then he told the man, “Hold out your hand.” The man held it out, and his hand became normal again.

He told the people, “Be careful to guard yourselves from every kind of greed. Life is not about having a lot of material possessions.”

“Sell your material possessions, and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves wallets that don’t wear out! Make a treasure for yourselves in heaven that never loses its value! In heaven thieves and moths can’t get close enough to destroy your treasure.

Be angry without sinning. Don’t go to bed angry.

Don’t love money. Be happy with what you have because God has said, “I will never abandon you or leave you.”
