Exodus 15:26

God's Word

He said, “If you will listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what he considers right, if you pay attention to his commands and obey all his laws, I will never make you suffer any of the diseases I made the Egyptians suffer, because I am the Lord, who heals you.”

I will do this because he has abandoned me and worshiped Astarte (the goddess of the Sidonians), Chemosh (the god of Moab), and Milcom (the god of Ammon). He has not followed my ways. He did not do what I consider right or keep my laws and decrees as his father David did.

If you will do all I command you, follow my ways, and do what I consider right by obeying my laws and commands as my servant David did, then I will be with you. I will build a permanent dynasty for you as I did for David. And I will give you Israel.

God injures, but he bandages. He beats you up, but his hands make you well.

He is the one who forgives all your sins, the one who heals all your diseases,

He is the healer of the brokenhearted. He is the one who bandages their wounds.

Never keep any strange god among you. Never worship a foreign god.

At midnight the Lord killed every firstborn male in Egypt from the firstborn son of Pharaoh who ruled the land to the firstborn son of the prisoner in jail, and also every firstborn animal.

If you carefully obey me and are faithful to the terms of my promise, then out of all the nations you will be my own special possession, even though the whole world is mine.

You will be my kingdom of priests and my holy nation.’ These are the words you must speak to the Israelites.”

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of slavery in Egypt.

You must serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your food and water. I will take away all sickness from among you.

Open your ears, and come to me! Listen so that you may live! I will make an everlasting promise  to you— the blessings I promised to David.

I’ve seen their ⌞sinful⌟ ways, but I’ll heal them. I’ll guide them and give them rest. I’ll comfort them and their mourners.

I solemnly warned your ancestors when I brought them out of Egypt, and the warning still applies to you today. I solemnly warned them to obey me.

“Now,” declares the Lord, “you must listen to me and not bring anything through the gates of this city on the day of rest. You must observe the day of rest as a holy day by not doing any work on it.

I’ll restore your health and heal your wounds,” declares the Lord. “People call you an outcast: Zion, no one cares for you.

“But I will heal this city and restore it to health. I will heal its people, and I will give them peace and security.

But I did tell them this, ‘Obey me, and I will be your God, and you will be my people. Live the way I told you to live so that things will go well for you.’

Isn’t there medicine in Gilead? Aren’t there doctors there? Then why hasn’t the health of my dear people been restored?

“Suppose a righteous person does what is fair and right.

I was the one who taught the people of Ephraim to walk. I took them by the hand. But they didn’t realize that I had healed them.

Let’s return to the Lord. Even though he has torn us to pieces, he will heal us. Even though he has wounded us, he will bandage our wounds.

I am the Lord your God. I brought you out of Egypt so that you are no longer slaves of the Egyptians. I have broken their power over you and made you live as a free people.

“This is what I will do if you will live by my laws and carefully obey my commands:

So Moses cried to the Lord, “Please, God, heal her!”

If you don’t eat blood, things will go well for you and your descendants. You will be doing what the Lord considers right.

Be sure you obey all these instructions I’m giving you. Then things will always go well for you and your descendants because you will be doing what the Lord your God considers good and right.

The Lord your God will do this if you listen to him, obey all the commands that I’m giving you today, and do what he considers right.

The Lord will strike you with the same boils that plagued the Egyptians. He will strike you with hemorrhoids, sores, and itching that won’t go away.

You might not faithfully obey every word of the teachings that are written in this book. You might not fear this glorious and awe-inspiring name: the Lord your God.

He will again bring all the diseases of Egypt that you dreaded, and they will cling to you.

See, I am the only God. There are no others. I kill, and I make alive. I wound, and I heal, and no one can rescue you from my power.

Moses summoned all Israel and said to them: Israel, listen to the laws and rules I’m telling you today. Learn them and faithfully obey them.

The Lord will keep you from having any kind of illness. He will not strike you with any of the terrible diseases you experienced in Egypt. Instead, he will strike all those who hate you.
