Pharaoh, all his officials, and all the ⌞other⌟ Egyptians got up during the night. There was loud crying throughout Egypt because in every house someone had died.
He cleared a path for his anger. He did not spare them. He let the plague take their lives.
Pharaoh said to them, “The Lord would have to be with you if I would ever let you take your women and children along. I know you’re up to no good!
There will be loud crying throughout Egypt, such as there has never been or ever will be again.
Whoever shuts his ear to the cry of the poor will call and not be answered.
There will be loud crying in every vineyard, because I will pass through your land ⌞with death⌟. The Lord has said this.
Diseases go ahead of him. Plagues follow after him.
“At midnight someone shouted, ‘The groom is here! Come to meet him!’
No mercy will be shown to those who show no mercy to others. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
The people who didn’t die were struck with tumors. So the cry of the city went up to heaven.
