If you refuse to let my people go, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the Lord God of the Hebrews says: How long will you refuse to humble yourself in my presence? Let my people go to worship me.

They will cover the land so that the ground can’t be seen. They will eat everything left by the hail, including every tree still standing in the fields.

I told you to let my son go so that he may worship me. But you refused to let him go. So now I’m going to kill your firstborn son.’ ”

Later Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the Lord God of Israel says: Let my people go into the desert to celebrate a festival in my honor.”

“Pray for me tomorrow,” Pharaoh said. Moses replied, “It will be as you say so that you will know that there is no one like the Lord our God.

I will distinguish between my people and yours. This miraculous sign will happen tomorrow.’ ”

So, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm that has ever happened in Egypt since the beginning of its history.

The Lord set a definite time. He said, “Tomorrow I will do this.”

Locusts have no king, yet all of them divide into swarms by instinct.

“Then I will repay you for the years that the mature locusts, the adult locusts, the grasshoppers, and the young locusts ate your crops. (They are the large army that I sent against you.)

You will plant many crops in your fields, but harvest little because locusts will destroy your crops.

Locusts came out of the smoke onto the earth, and they were given power like the power of earthly scorpions.
