You will be able to tell your children and grandchildren exactly how I treated the Egyptians and what miraculous signs I did among them. This is how you will all know that I am the Lord.”

Tell your children about it. Have your children tell their children. Have your grandchildren tell their children.

However, be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you don’t forget the things which you have seen with your own eyes. Don’t let them fade from your memory as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren.

“In the future when your children ask you what this means, tell them, ‘The Lord used his mighty hand to bring us out of slavery in Egypt.

O God, we have heard it with our own ears. Our ancestors have told us about the miracle you performed in their day, in days long ago.

Here is what the Lord says: This is the way you will recognize that I am the Lord: With this staff in my hand, I’m going to strike the Nile, and the water will turn into blood.

Fathers, don’t make your children bitter about life. Instead, bring them up in Christian discipline and instruction.

I brought them to the land that I promised to give them. When they saw any high hill or any leafy tree, they made sacrifices and brought offerings there to make me angry. There they offered their sacrifices and poured out their wine offerings.

I let them dishonor themselves when they sacrificed all their firstborn sons as gifts ⌞to their false gods⌟. I terrified them so that they would know that I am the Lord.’

Even when I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me live to tell the people of this age what your strength has accomplished, to tell about your power to all who will come.

Then people will say, “Righteous people certainly have a reward. There is a God who judges on earth.”

The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I use my power against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of there.”

“That is why you are great, Lord God. There is no one like you, and there is no other god except you, as we have heard with our own ears.

So Aaron held his staff over the waters of Egypt. The frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.

I will make Pharaoh so stubborn that he will pursue them. Then, because of what I do to Pharaoh and his entire army, I will receive honor, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” So that is what the Israelites did.

The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I am honored for what I did to Pharaoh, his chariots, and his cavalry.”

By your power you forced nations ⌞out of the land⌟, but you planted our ancestors ⌞there⌟. You shattered many groups of people, but you set our ancestors free.
