If a ruler becomes angry with you, don’t resign your position. If you remain calm, you can make up for serious offenses.

A hothead stirs up a fight, but one who holds his temper calms disputes.

With patience you can persuade a ruler, and a soft tongue can break bones.

There is a tragedy that I’ve seen under the sun, an error often made by rulers.

Don’t be in a hurry to leave the king’s service. Don’t take part in something evil, because he can do whatever he pleases.
