I prayed to the Lord and said, “Almighty Lord, don’t destroy your people. They belong to you. You saved them by your great power and used your mighty hand to bring them out of Egypt.

Then they sang a new song, “You deserve to take the scroll and open the seals on it, because you were slaughtered. You bought people with your blood to be God’s own. They are from every tribe, language, people, and nation.

He gave himself for us to set us free from every sin and to cleanse us so that we can be his special people who are enthusiastic about doing good things.

For the sake of your name, don’t despise us. Don’t dishonor your glorious throne. Remember your promise  to us; don’t break it.

Let the people the Lord defended repeat these words. They are the people he defended from the power of their enemies

“Lovingly, you will lead the people you have saved. Powerfully, you will guide them to your holy dwelling.

He used his own blood, not the blood of goats and bulls, for the sacrifice. He went into the most holy place and offered this sacrifice once and for all to free us forever.

I brought you out of Egypt and freed you from slavery. I sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam to lead you.

We have become like those whom you never ruled, like those who are not called by your name.

Sing with joy, you heavens, because the Lord has done this. Rejoice, you deep places of the earth. Break into shouts of joy, you mountains, you forests and every tree in them. The Lord has reclaimed Jacob. He will display his glory in Israel.

God said he was going to destroy them, but Moses, his chosen one, stood in his way to prevent him from exterminating them.

Moses and Aaron were among his priests. Samuel was among those who prayed to him. They called to the Lord, and he answered them.

With your might you have defended your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Selah

These are your servants and your people whom you have saved by your great power and your strong hand.

because they are your own people whom you brought out of Egypt from the middle of an iron smelter.

Who is like your people Israel? It is the one nation on earth that God came to free in order to make its people his own, to make his name  known, and to do great and wonderful things for them. You forced  nations and their gods out of the way of your people, whom you freed from Egypt to be your own.

But the Lord’s people were his property. Jacob was his own possession.

Lord, make peace with your people Israel, whom you freed. Don’t let the guilt of this unsolved murder remain among your people Israel.” Then there will be peace with the Lord despite the murder.

Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and the Lord your God freed you. That’s why I’m giving you this command today.

That prophet or dreamer must be put to death because he preached rebellion against the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt and freed you from slavery. He was trying to lead you away from following the directions the Lord your God gave you. You must get rid of this evil.

They are your people. They belong to you. You used your great strength and powerful arm to bring them out ⌞of Egypt⌟.

You were chosen because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors. So he used his mighty hand to bring you out. He freed you from slavery under Pharaoh (the king of Egypt).

Then he said, “Lord, please go with us! Even though we are impossible to deal with, forgive our sin and the wrong we have done, and accept us as your own people.”

If you really are pleased with me, show me your ways so that I can know you and so that you will continue to be pleased with me. Remember: This nation is your people.”

Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Disregard the stubbornness, wickedness, and sin of these people.

Then Samuel took a lamb, one still feeding on milk, and sacrificed it as a burnt offering to the Lord. Samuel cried to the Lord on behalf of Israel, and the Lord answered him.

After all, you, Lord God, set them apart from all the people of the world to be your own as you promised through your servant Moses when you brought our ancestors out of Egypt.”

They remembered that God was their rock, that the Most High was their defender.

Then the Lord said to me, “Even if Moses and Samuel were standing in front of me, I would not feel sorry for these people. Send them away from me, and let them go.

“O Lord, look and consider: Have you ever treated anyone like this? Should women eat their own children, the children they have nursed? Should priests and prophets be killed in the Lord’s holy place?

He told me, “Leave right away. Your people whom you brought out of Egypt have ruined ⌞everything⌟. They’ve quickly turned from the way I commanded them to live. They’ve made an idol for themselves.”

Save your people, and bless those who belong to you. Be their shepherd, and carry them forever.

Have pity on me, O God. Have pity on me, because my soul takes refuge in you. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until destructive storms pass by.
