However, be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you don’t forget the things which you have seen with your own eyes. Don’t let them fade from your memory as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren.

“Be careful ⌞to do⌟ everything I told you. “Never mention the names of other gods or let them be heard on your lips.

My son, listen to your father’s discipline, and do not neglect your mother’s teachings,

My son, give me your heart. Let your eyes find happiness in my ways.

My son, do not lose sight of these things. Use priceless wisdom and foresight.

My son, pay attention to my words. Treasure my commands that are within you.

Those who are living praise you as I do today. Fathers make your faithfulness known to their children.

You have seen much, but you do not observe anything. Your ears are open, but you hear nothing.

This is what the Lord says: Watch out! If you value your lives, do not carry anything on the day of rest—a holy day or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem.

“So pay attention to how you listen! Those who understand ⌞these mysteries⌟ will be given ⌞more knowledge⌟. However, some people don’t understand ⌞these mysteries⌟. Even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.”

Fathers, don’t make your children bitter about life. Instead, bring them up in Christian discipline and instruction.

Teach them to your children, and talk about them when you’re at home or away, when you lie down or get up.

Here are the laws and rules you must faithfully obey in the land that the Lord God of your ancestors is giving you as your own. You must obey them as long as you live in the land.

Never eat leavened bread with the meat from this sacrifice. Instead, for seven days you must eat unleavened bread at this festival. (It is the bread of misery because you left Egypt in a hurry.) Eat this bread so that, as long as you live, you will remember the day you left Egypt.

He must keep it with him and read it his entire life. He will learn to fear the Lord his God and faithfully obey everything found in these teachings and laws.

Some things are hidden. They belong to the Lord our God. But the things that have been revealed in these teachings belong to us and to our children forever. We must obey every word of these teachings.

“Write down this song, teach it to the Israelites, and have them sing it. This song will be a witness for me against the Israelites.

he said to them, “Pay attention to all these warnings I’ve given you today. Then you will command your children to faithfully obey every word of these teachings.

Never forget the day you stood in front of the Lord your God at Mount Horeb. The Lord had said to me, “Assemble the people in front of me, and I will let them hear my words. Then they will learn to fear me as long as they live on earth, and they will teach their children the same thing.”

You didn’t see the Lord the day he spoke to you from the fire at Mount Horeb. So be very careful

Be careful that you don’t forget the promise  that the Lord your God made to you. Don’t make your own carved idols or statues that represent anything the Lord your God has forbidden.

As long as you live, you, your children, and your grandchildren must fear the Lord your God. All of you must obey all his laws and commands that I’m giving you, and you will live a long time.

In the future your children will ask you, “What do these regulations, laws, and rules which the Lord our God commanded you mean to you?”

Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you’re at home or away, when you lie down or get up.

Be careful that you don’t forget the Lord your God. Don’t fail to obey his commands, rules, and laws that I’m giving you today.

When this happens, be careful that you don’t become arrogant and forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of slavery in Egypt.

For this reason we must pay closer attention to what we have heard. Then we won’t drift away ⌞from the truth⌟.

So how will we escape punishment if we reject the important message, the message that God saved us? First, the Lord told this saving message. Then those who heard him confirmed that message.

You see that Abraham’s faith and what he did worked together. His faith was shown to be genuine by what he did.

Whoever rebels against your authority or does not obey your orders will be put to death. Just be strong and courageous!”

Be very careful to love the Lord your God.

He said to the people of Israel, “In the future when children ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’

So remember what you received and heard. Obey, and change the way you think and act. If you’re not alert, I’ll come like a thief. You don’t know when I will come.

The people of Israel did what the Lord considered evil. They forgot the Lord their God and served other gods and goddesses—the Baals and the Asherahs.

The Israelites did not remember the Lord their God, who had rescued them from all the enemies around them.
