So you came and stood at the foot of the mountain, which was on fire with flames shooting into the sky. It was dark, cloudy, and gloomy.
He spread apart the heavens and came down with a dark cloud under his feet.
After the earthquake there was a fire. But the Lord wasn’t in the fire. And after the fire there was a quiet, whispering voice.
He made the darkness his hiding place, the dark rain clouds his covering.
Clouds and darkness surround him. Righteousness and justice are the foundations of his throne.
The Lord said to Moses, “I am coming to you in a storm cloud so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always believe you.” Moses told the Lord what the people had said.
The Lord spoke to you from the fire. You heard a voice speaking but saw no one. There was only a voice.
But when you heard the voice coming from the darkness and saw the mountain blazing with fire, all the leaders and heads of your tribes came to me.
