God's Word

They ate cheese from cows and drank milk from sheep and goats. He gave them fat from lambs, rams from the stock of Bashan, male goats, and the best wheat. They drank the blood-red wine of grapes.

Abraham took cheese and milk, as well as the meat, and set these in front of them. Then he stood by them under the tree as they ate.

He will tie his donkey to a grapevine, his colt to the best vine. He will wash his clothes in wine, his garments in the blood of grapes.

But they were defiant and rebelled against you. They threw your teachings over their shoulders and killed your prophets who warned them to turn back to you. They committed outrageous sins.

He won’t be able to drink from the streams or from the rivers of honey and buttermilk.

my steps were bathed in buttermilk, and the rocks poured streams of olive oil on me.

He is the one who brings peace to your borders and satisfies your ⌞hunger⌟ with the finest wheat.

Many bulls have surrounded me. Strong bulls from Bashan have encircled me.

But I would feed Israel with the finest wheat and satisfy them with honey from a rock.”

He will eat cheese and honey until he knows how to reject evil and choose good.

That person will eat cheese, because they will produce so much milk. Everyone who is left in the land will eat cheese and honey.

You can eat the meat of warriors and drink the blood of the princes of the earth. All of them will be killed like rams, lambs, goats, bulls and all the best animals of Bashan.

I led them with cords of human kindness, with ropes of love. I removed the yokes  from their necks. I bent down and fed them.

Listen to this message, you cows of Bashan who live on Mount Samaria. You women oppress the poor and abuse the needy. You say to your husbands, “Get some wine! Let’s drink!”

With your shepherd’s staff, take care of your people, the sheep that belong to you. They live alone in the woods, in fertile pastures. Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead like before.

“I am also giving you the first of the produce they give the Lord: the best of all the olive oil and the best of the new wine and fresh grain.

You didn’t serve the Lord your God with a joyful and happy heart when you had so much.

The grapes were trampled in the winepress outside the city. Blood flowed out of the winepress as high as a horse’s bridle for 1,600 stadia.

Sisera asked for water. She gave him milk. She offered him buttermilk in a royal bowl.
