God's Word

If you make a vow to the Lord your God, don’t avoid keeping it. The Lord your God expects you to keep it. You would be guilty of a sin if you didn’t.

Then Jacob made a vow: “If God will be with me and will watch over me on my trip and give me food to eat and clothes to wear,

You will pray to him, and he will listen to you, and you will keep your vow to him.

I will keep my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people,

The one who does not collect interest on a loan or take a bribe against an innocent person. Whoever does these things will never be shaken.

Bring ⌞your⌟ thanks to God as a sacrifice, and keep your vows to the Most High.

There on the mountains are the feet of a messenger who announces the good news: “All is well!” Celebrate your festivals, Judah! Keep your vows! This wickedness will never pass your way again. It will be completely removed.

“You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, ‘Never break your oath, but give to the Lord what you swore in an oath to give him.’

Foreigners, orphans, and widows who live in your cities may come to eat all they want. The Levites may also come because they have no land of their own as you have. Then the Lord your God will bless you in whatever work you do.

You may demand that a foreigner pay, but don’t collect payment on the debt another Israelite still owes you.

Never bring gifts or money earned by prostitution into the house of the Lord your God as an offering you vowed to give. These earnings are disgusting to the Lord your God.

If you didn’t make a vow, you would not be guilty.

At that time, if Jonathan’s name  is cut off from David’s family, then may the Lord punish David’s house.”
