They must have no pity on him. The guilt of murdering an innocent person must be removed from Israel. Then things will go well for Israel.

Soon you will enter and take possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving you as your property. When you have settled there,

The Lord was angry with me because of you. So the Lord your God took an oath that I wouldn’t cross the Jordan River and enter the good land he is giving you as your property.

He risked his life and killed the Philistine Goliath, and the Lord gave all Israel a great victory. When you saw it, you rejoiced. Why then should you sin by shedding David’s innocent blood for no reason?”
