As your servant I am warned by them. There is a great reward in following them.

But it will not go well for the wicked. They will not live any longer. Their lives are like shadows, because they don’t fear God.

If you don’t eat blood, things will go well for you and your descendants. You will be doing what the Lord considers right.

Be sure you obey all these instructions I’m giving you. Then things will always go well for you and your descendants because you will be doing what the Lord your God considers good and right.

Be sure to do everything I command you. Never add anything to it or take anything away from it.

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you. Never stop living this way.

Remember that for 40 years the Lord your God led you on your journey in the desert. He did this in order to humble you and test you. He wanted to know whether or not you would wholeheartedly obey his commands.

Young people, in a similar way, place yourselves under the authority of spiritual leaders. Furthermore, all of you must serve each other with humility, because God opposes the arrogant but favors the humble.

Samuel explained the laws concerning kingship to the people. He wrote the laws on a scroll, which he placed in front of the Lord. Then Samuel sent the people back to their homes.

The sin of black magic is rebellion. Wickedness and idolatry are arrogance. Because you rejected the Lord’s word, he rejects you as king.”
