Deuteronomy 15:9

God's Word

When the seventh year—the year when payments on debts are canceled—is near, you might be stingy toward poor Israelites and give them nothing. Be careful not to think these worthless thoughts. The poor will complain to the Lord about you, and you will be condemned for your sin.

They forced the poor to cry out to him, and he hears the cry of those who suffer.

I will not put anything wicked in front of my eyes. I hate what unfaithful people do. I want no part of it.

“Because oppressed people are robbed and needy people groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will provide safety for those who long for it.”

The one who avenges murder has remembered oppressed people. He has never forgotten their cries.

Foolish scheming is sinful, and a mocker is disgusting to everyone.

A stingy person is in a hurry to get rich, not realizing that poverty is about to overtake him.

Guard your heart more than anything else, because the source of your life flows from it.

I, the Lord, search minds and test hearts. I will reward each person for what he has done. I will reward him for the results of his actions.

‘Every seven years each of you must free any Hebrews who sold themselves to you. When they have served you for six years, you must set them free.’ But your ancestors refused to obey me or listen to me.

Evil thoughts, murder, adultery, ⌞other⌟ sexual sins, stealing, lying, and cursing come from within.

Can’t I do what I want with my own money? Or do you resent my generosity towards others?’

At the end of every seven years, you must cancel debts.

Pay them each day before sunset because they are poor and need their pay. Otherwise, they will complain to the Lord about you, and you will be condemned for your sin.

Whoever knows what is right but doesn’t do it is sinning.

Do you think this passage means nothing? It says, “The Spirit that lives in us wants us to be his own.”

The wages you refused to pay the people who harvested your fields shout ⌞to God⌟ against you. The Lord of Armies has heard the cries of those who gather the crops.

Brothers and sisters, stop complaining about each other, or you will be condemned. Realize that the judge is standing at the door.
