Daniel 9:26

But after the sixty-two sets of seven time periods, the Anointed One  will be cut off and have nothing. The city and the holy place will be destroyed with the prince who is to come. His end will come with a flood until the end of the destructive war that has been determined.

They answered the king, “Give us seven of the male descendants of the man who wanted to finish us off. He planned to wipe us out to keep us from staying anywhere in Israel’s territory.

My strength is dried up like pieces of broken pottery. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You lay me down in the dust of death.

The Lord has one who is strong and powerful. He is like a hailstorm, a destructive wind. He is like a thunderstorm, an overwhelming flood. He will throw them to the ground forcefully.

Now stop laughing, or your chains will be tightened, because I have heard that the Almighty Lord of Armies has finally determined to destroy the whole land.

He was arrested, taken away, and judged. Who would have thought that he would be removed from the world? He was killed because of my people’s rebellion.

That is why the Lord is going to bring against them the raging and powerful floodwaters of the Euphrates River— the king of Assyria with all his power. It will overflow all its channels and go over all its banks.

Who is this, rising like the Nile River, like streams that flow swiftly?

What a horrifying sight Babylon will be to the nations! The sea will rise over Babylon, and its roaring waves will cover it.

“Then his sons will prepare for war. They will assemble a large number of forces so that they can overwhelm ⌞the enemy⌟ and pass through its land. They will return and wage war all the way to the stronghold.

“Then the northern king will decide to invade with the power of his entire kingdom, and some decent men will invade with him. He will give the southern king his daughter as a wife in order to destroy the southern kingdom. But this will not succeed or help him.

He will overwhelm large forces and defeat them, including the prince of the promise.

“The king will do as he pleases. He will highly honor himself above every god. He will say amazing things against the God of gods. He will succeed until God’s anger is over, because what has been decided must be done.

He will confirm his promise with many for one set of seven time periods. In the middle of the seven time periods, he will stop the sacrifices and food offerings. This will happen along with disgusting things that cause destruction until ⌞those time periods⌟ come to an end. It has been determined that this will happen to those who destroy ⌞the city⌟.”

The Lord said, “Name him Lo Ammi [Not My People]. You are no longer my people, and I am no longer your God.

The land will tremble because of this. Everyone who lives in it will mourn. The entire land will rise like the Nile, be tossed about, and then sink like Egypt’s river.

The Almighty Lord of Armies touches the earth. It quakes, and all who live on it mourn. All of it rises like the Nile and sinks like Egypt’s river.

He will put an end to Nineveh with a devastating flood. He will pursue his enemies with darkness.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a king who planned a wedding for his son.

“The king became angry. He sent his soldiers, killed those murderers, and burned their city.

Your house will be abandoned, deserted.

Jesus said to them, “You see all these buildings, don’t you? I can guarantee this truth: Not one of these stones will be left on top of another. Each one will be torn down.”

Jesus said to him, “Do you see these large buildings? Not one of these stones will be left on top of another. Each one will be torn down.”

“When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, don’t be alarmed! These things must happen, but they don’t mean that the end has come.

Jesus said to them, “Elijah is coming first and will put everything in order again. But in what sense was it written that the Son of Man must suffer a lot and be treated shamefully?

Swords will cut them down, and they will be carried off into all nations as prisoners. Nations will trample Jerusalem until the times allowed for the nations ⌞to do this⌟ are over.

“About these buildings that you see—the time will come when not one of these stones will be left on top of another. Each one will be torn down.”

Didn’t the Messiah have to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”

He said to them, “Scripture says that the Messiah would suffer and that he would come back to life on the third day.

The ruler of this world has no power over me. But he’s coming, so I won’t talk with you much longer.

God had Christ, who was sinless, take our sin so that we might receive God’s approval through him.

Christ paid the price to free us from the curse that the laws in Moses’ Teachings bring by becoming cursed instead of us. Scripture says, “Everyone who is hung on a tree is cursed.”

God called you to endure suffering because Christ suffered for you. He left you an example so that you could follow in his footsteps.

Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross so that freed from our sins, we could live a life that has God’s approval. His wounds have healed you.

This is true because Christ suffered for our sins once. He was an innocent person, but he suffered for guilty people so that he could bring you to God. His body was put to death, but he was brought to life through his spirit.
