Then the king went to his palace and spent the night without food or company. He couldn’t get to sleep.

Mephibosheth, Saul’s grandson, went to meet the king. He had not tended to his feet, trimmed his mustache, or washed his clothes from the day the king left until he came home safely.

When Ahab heard these things, he tore his clothes ⌞in distress⌟ and dressed in sackcloth. He fasted, lay in sackcloth, and walked around depressed.

That night the king could not sleep. So he told ⌞a servant⌟ to bring the official daily records, and they were read to the king.

I didn’t eat any good-tasting food. No meat or wine entered my mouth. I didn’t wash myself until the entire three weeks were over.

During the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, he had some dreams. He was troubled, but he stayed asleep.

At dawn, as soon as it was light, the king got up and quickly went to the lions’ den.

The sound of harpists, musicians, flutists, and trumpeters will never be heard in it again. A skilled craftsman—regardless of the type of craft— will never be found in it again. The sound of a millstone will never be heard in it again.
