Daniel 6:10

God's Word

When Daniel learned that the document had been signed, he went to his house. An upper room in his house had windows that opened in the direction of Jerusalem. Three times each day he got down on his knees and prayed to his God. He had always praised God this way.

Hear the plea for mercy that your people Israel and I pray toward this place. Hear us ⌞when we pray⌟ to heaven, the place where you live. Hear and forgive.

⌞hear⌟ every prayer for mercy, made by one person or by all the people in Israel, whose consciences bother them, who stretch out their hands toward this temple.

“When your people go to war against their enemies (wherever you may send them) and they pray to you, O Lord, toward the city you have chosen and the temple I built for your name,

When Solomon finished praying this prayer for mercy to the Lord, he stood in front of the Lord’s altar, where he had been kneeling with his hands stretched out toward heaven.

(Solomon had made a bronze platform 7½ feet long, 7½ feet wide, and 4½ feet high. He put it in the middle of the courtyard. He stood on the platform, knelt in front of the entire assembly, and stretched out his hands toward heaven.)

if they change their attitude toward you in the land where they are captives, if they pray to you toward the land that you gave their ancestors, and the city you have chosen, and the temple I have built for your name,

At the evening sacrifice I got up from my misery, and with my clothes torn, I knelt down, stretched out my hands to the Lord my God in prayer,

But I asked, “Should a man like me run away? Would a man like me go into the temple to save his life? I won’t go.”

I will thank the Lord at all times. My mouth will always praise him.

But I will enter your house because of your great mercy. Out of reverence for you, I will bow toward your holy temple.

Morning, noon, and night I complain and groan, and he listens to my voice.

Have pity on me, O Lord, because I call out to you all day long.

Come, let’s worship and bow down. Let’s kneel in front of the Lord, our maker,

They replied, “Your Majesty, Daniel, one of the captives from Judah, refuses to obey your order or the decree that you signed. He prays three times each day.”

I prayed to the Lord my God. I confessed and said, “Lord, you are great and deserve respect as the only God. You keep your promise  and show mercy to those who love you and obey your commandments.

“Then I thought, ‘I have been banished from your sight. Will I ever see your holy temple again?’

So he told the man with the paralyzed hand, “Stand in the center ⌞of the synagogue⌟.”

“If people come to me and are not ready to abandon their fathers, mothers, wives, children, brothers, and sisters, as well as their own lives, they cannot be my disciples.

Then he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and prayed,

Around noon the next day, while Cornelius’ men were on their way and coming close to Joppa, Peter went on the roof to pray.

These men are not drunk as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning.

But I don’t place any value on my own life. I want to finish the race I’m running. I want to carry out the mission I received from the Lord Jesus—the mission of testifying to the Good News of God’s kindness.

When Paul had finished speaking, he knelt down and prayed with all of them.

When our time was up, we started on our way. All of them with their wives and children accompanied us out of the city. We knelt on the beach, prayed,

Peter and John were going to the temple courtyard for the three o’clock prayer.

“Lord, pay attention to their threats now, and allow us to speak your word boldly.

The angel told them, “Stand in the temple courtyard, and tell the people everything about life ⌞in Christ⌟.”

Peter and the other apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than people.

Then he knelt down and shouted, “Lord, don’t hold this sin against them.” After he had said this, he died.

Peter made everyone leave the room. He knelt and prayed. Then he turned toward the body and said, “Tabitha, get up!” Tabitha opened her eyes, saw Peter, and sat up.

This is the reason I kneel in the presence of the Father

So through my being in prison, the Lord has given most of our brothers and sisters confidence to speak God’s word more boldly and fearlessly than ever.

I eagerly expect and hope that I will have nothing to be ashamed of. I will speak very boldly and honor Christ in my body, now as always, whether I live or die.

Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks.

Everything you say or do should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Through Jesus we should always bring God a sacrifice of praise, that is, words that acknowledge him.

So we can go confidently to the throne of God’s kindness  to receive mercy and find kindness, which will help us at the right time.

Don’t be afraid of what you are going to suffer. The devil is going to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested. Your suffering will go on for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

I know where you live. Satan’s throne is there. You hold on to my name and have not denied your belief in me, even in the days of Antipas. He was my faithful witness who was killed in your presence, where Satan lives.
