“Now listen to the Lord’s word: You said, ‘Stop prophesying against Israel, and stop preaching against the descendants of Isaac.’

A man of God from Judah had come to Bethel. When he arrived, Jeroboam was standing at the altar to offer a sacrifice.

Micaiah added, “Then hear the Lord’s word. I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and the entire army of heaven was standing near him on his right and his left.

He did what the Lord considered evil. He didn’t turn away from any of the sins that Jeroboam (Nebat’s son) led Israel to commit.

They say to the seers, ‘Don’t see ⌞the future⌟.’ They say to those who have visions, ‘Don’t have visions that tell us what is right. Tell us what we want to hear. See illusions.

“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel. Tell those who make up their prophecies, ‘Listen to the Lord’s word.

“ ‘Listen to the Lord’s word, you prostitute.

“Son of man, turn to the south, preach against the south, and prophesy against the forest in the Negev.

“Son of man, turn to Jerusalem, preach against the holy places. Prophesy against the land of Israel.

You made the Nazirites drink wine. You commanded the prophets to stop prophesying.

But don’t ⌞ever⌟ prophesy again in Bethel, because this is the king’s holy place and the king’s palace.”

Your prophets say, “Don’t prophesy! Don’t prophesy such things! Disgrace will never overtake us.”

Let my teachings come down like raindrops. Let my words drip like dew, like gentle rain on grass, like showers on green plants.
