Saul was helped up from the ground. When he opened his eyes, he was blind. So his companions led him into Damascus.

He split up his men to attack them at night. He defeated them, pursuing them all the way to Hobah, which is north of Damascus.

Then they struck all the men who were in the doorway of the house, young and old alike, with blindness so that they gave up trying to find the door.

The Lord asked him, “Who gave humans their mouths? Who makes humans unable to talk or hear? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? It is I, the Lord!

The Lord is against you now. For a while you will be blind, unable to see the light of day.” Suddenly, Elymas couldn’t see a thing. He tried to find people to lead him.

“I was blind because the light had been so bright. So the men who were with me led me into the city of Damascus.

Immediately, something like fish scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. Then Saul stood up and was baptized.

For three days he couldn’t see and didn’t eat or drink.

The governor under King Aretas put guards around the city of Damascus to catch me.

I didn’t even go to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was. Instead, I went to Arabia and then came back to Damascus.
