“Go into the Abarim Mountains, to Mount Nebo in Moab, across from Jericho. Take a look at the land of Canaan that I’m giving the Israelites as their own property.

If Joshua had given the people rest, God would not have spoken about another day.

The whole congregation of Israel gathered at Shiloh and set up the tent of meeting there. The land was under their control.

The Lord has forced important and powerful nations out of your way. Not one person has ever been able to stand up to you.

The Lord forced out all the people ahead of us, including the Amorites who lived in this land. We, too, will serve the Lord, because he is our God.”

So they set up for themselves the carved idol Micah had made. It stayed there the whole time the house of God was at Shiloh.

The troops sent some men who brought back the ark of the promise of the Lord of Armies—who is enthroned over the angels. Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, came along with God’s ark.
