God's Word

Stephen answered, “Brothers and fathers, listen to me. The God who reveals his glory appeared to our ancestor Abraham in Mesopotamia. This happened before Abraham lived in Haran.

Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot (son of Haran), and his daughter-in-law Sarai, wife of his son Abram. They set out together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. When they came as far as Haran, they stayed there.

“Brothers and fathers, listen as I now present my case to you.”

The voice of the Lord rolls over the water. The God of glory thunders. The Lord shouts over raging water.

His Son is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact likeness of God’s being. He holds everything together through his powerful words. After he had cleansed people from their sins, he now holds the honored position—the one next to the majestic God [the Father] on the heavenly throne.

The Word became human and lived among us. We saw his glory. It was the glory that the Father shares with his only Son, a glory full of kindness  and truth.

You are the Lord, the God who chose Abram and took him from Ur of the Chaldeans and gave him the name Abraham.

Then the Lord said to him, “I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land so that you will take possession of it.”

“Our Lord and God, you deserve to receive glory, honor, and power because you created everything. Everything came into existence and was created because of your will.”

At the same time we can expect what we hope for—the appearance of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Not one of the rulers of this world has known it. If they had, they wouldn’t have crucified the Lord of glory.

After Paul said that, the Pharisees and Sadducees began to quarrel, and the men in the meeting were divided.

Isaiah said this because he had seen Jesus’ glory and had spoken about him.

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those who have his good will!”

Don’t allow us to be tempted. Instead, rescue us from the evil one.

Look to Abraham, your ancestor, and to Sarah, from whom you are descended. When I called Abraham, he was childless. I blessed him and gave him many descendants.

They called to each other and said, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory.”

Who, then, is this king of glory? The Lord of Armies is the king of glory! Selah

Lift your heads, you gates. Be lifted, you ancient doors, so that the king of glory may come in.

Joshua said to all the people, “This is what the Lord God of Israel says: Long ago your ancestors, Terah and his sons Abraham and Nahor, lived on the other side of the Euphrates River and served other gods.

Jacob asked some people, “My friends, where are you from?” “We’re from Haran,” they replied.

Abram set out for Canaan. He took along his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all the possessions they had accumulated and the servants they had acquired in Haran.

The Lord said to Abram, “Leave your land, your relatives, and your father’s home. Go to the land that I will show you.

Did the gods of the nations which my ancestors destroyed rescue Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Telassar?

Then the chief priest asked Stephen, “Is this true?”

I pray that the glorious Father, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know Christ better.

Faith led Abraham to obey when God called him to go to a place that he would receive as an inheritance. Abraham left his own country without knowing where he was going.

My brothers and sisters, practice your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ by not favoring one person over another.
