Some time ago Theudas appeared. He claimed that he was important, and about four hundred men joined him. He was killed, and all his followers were scattered. The whole movement was a failure.

False messiahs and false prophets will appear. They will work spectacular, miraculous signs and do wonderful things to deceive, if possible, even those whom God has chosen.

So if someone tells you, ‘He’s in the desert!’ don’t go out ⌞looking for him⌟. And don’t believe anyone who says, ‘He’s in a secret place!’

Many will come using my name. They will say, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many people.

Aren’t you the Egyptian who started a revolution not long ago and led four thousand terrorists into the desert?”

Then he said to the council, “Men of Israel, consider carefully what you do with these men.

A man named Simon lived in that city. He amazed the people of Samaria with his practice of magic. He claimed that he was great.

Those who were recognized as important people didn’t add a single thing to my message. (What sort of people they were makes no difference to me, since God doesn’t play favorites.)

So if any one of you thinks you’re important when you’re really not, you’re only fooling yourself.

They arrogantly use nonsense to seduce people by appealing to their sexual desires, especially to sexual freedom. They seduce people who have just escaped from those who live in error.

Many people will follow them in their sexual freedom and will cause others to dishonor the way of truth.

These people complain, find fault, follow their own desires, say arrogant things, and flatter people in order to take advantage of them.

Then the angel carried me by his power into the wilderness. I saw a woman sitting on a bright red beast covered with insulting names. It had seven heads and ten horns.

A name was written on her forehead. The name was Mystery: Babylon the Great, the Mother of Prostitutes and Detestable Things of the Earth.
