Acts 23:9

The shouting became very loud. Some of the experts in Moses’ Teachings were Pharisees who argued their position forcefully. They said, “We don’t find anything wrong with this man. Maybe a spirit or an angel actually spoke to him!”

When a person’s ways are pleasing to the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Then the officials and all the people said to the priests and prophets, “This man should not be condemned to die. He has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”

When the experts in Moses’ Teachings who were Pharisees saw him eating with sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

A third time Pilate spoke to them. He asked, “Why? What has he done wrong? I haven’t found this man deserving of the death penalty. So I’m going to have him whipped and set free.”

Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, “I can’t find this man guilty of any crime.”

The Pharisees and their experts in Moses’ Teachings complained to Jesus’ disciples. They asked, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

The crowd standing there heard the voice and said that it had thundered. Others in the crowd said that an angel had talked to him.

When they believed, God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. So who was I to interfere with God?”

“But as I was on my way and approaching the city of Damascus about noon, a bright light from heaven suddenly flashed around me.

I fell to the ground and heard a voice asking me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?’

and found their accusations had to do with disputes about their own laws. He wasn’t accused of anything for which he deserved to die or to be put into prison.

(The Sadducees say that the dead won’t come back to life and that angels and spirits don’t exist. The Pharisees believe in all these things.)

However, I don’t think that he has done anything to deserve the death penalty. But since he made an appeal to His Majesty the Emperor, I have decided to send him to Rome.

As they were leaving, they said to each other, “This man isn’t doing anything for which he deserves to die or be put in prison.”

I know this because an angel from the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood by me last night.

However, if it’s from God, you won’t be able to stop them. You may even discover that you’re fighting against God.”

He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?”

Are we trying to make the Lord jealous? Are we stronger than he is?

Samuel told them, “The Lord is a witness to what you’ve said, and his anointed king is a witness today that you’ve found nothing in my hands.” “He is a witness,” they answered.

He told David, “You are more righteous than I. You treated me well while I treated you badly.
