Whoever has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his good deed.

But honorable people act honorably and stand firm for what is honorable.

So those of us who have a strong ⌞faith⌟ must be patient with the weaknesses of those whose ⌞faith⌟ is not so strong. We must not think only of ourselves.

If others have the right to expect this from you, don’t we deserve even more? But we haven’t used our rights. Instead, we would put up with anything in order not to hinder the Good News of Christ in any way.

But I’ll go on doing what I’m doing. This will take away the opportunity of those people who want to brag because they think they’re like us.

When I was with you and needed something, I didn’t bother any of you for help. My friends from the province of Macedonia supplied everything I needed. I kept myself from being a financial burden to you in any way, and I will continue to do that.

How were you treated worse than the other churches, except that I didn’t bother you for help? Forgive me for this wrong!

You know about the kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was rich, yet for your sake he became poor in order to make you rich through his poverty.

Thieves must quit stealing and, instead, they must work hard. They should do something good with their hands so that they’ll have something to share with those in need.

Also, make it your goal to live quietly, do your work, and earn your own living, as we ordered you.

We encourage you, brothers and sisters, to instruct those who are not living right, cheer up those who are discouraged, help the weak, and be patient with everyone.

Don’t forget to do good things for others and to share what you have with them. These are the kinds of sacrifices that please God.

Remember those in prison as if you were in prison with them. Remember those who are mistreated as if you were being mistreated.

After all, they went on their trip to serve the one named Christ, and they didn’t accept any help from the people to whom they went.
