God's Word

Paul arrived in the city of Derbe and then went to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived. Timothy’s mother was a Jewish believer, but his father was Greek.

The same thing happened in the city of Iconium. Paul and Barnabas went into the synagogue and spoke in such a way that a large crowd of Jews and Greeks believed.

They spread the Good News in that city and won many disciples. Then they went back to the cities of Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch (which is in Pisidia).

So they escaped to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding territory.

The believers immediately sent Paul to the seacoast, but Silas and Timothy stayed in Berea.

But when Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul devoted all his time to teaching God’s word. He assured the Jews that Jesus is the Messiah.

So he sent two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, to Macedonia, while he stayed longer in the province of Asia.

Timothy my coworker greets you; so do Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, who are Jewish by birth like me.

If Timothy comes, make sure that he doesn’t have anything to be afraid of while he is with you. He’s doing the Lord’s work as I am,

I’m reminded of how sincere your faith is. That faith first lived in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice. I’m convinced that it also lives in you.

You also know about the kind of persecutions and sufferings which happened to me in the cities of Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I endured those persecutions, and the Lord rescued me from all of them.
