Acts 13:38

“So, brothers, I’m telling you that through Jesus your sins can be forgiven. Sins kept you from receiving God’s approval through Moses’ Teachings.

But with you there is forgiveness so that you can be feared.

O Israel, put your hope in the Lord, because with the Lord there is mercy and with him there is unlimited forgiveness.

Blessed is the person whose disobedience is forgiven and whose sin is pardoned.

No longer will each person teach his neighbors or his relatives by saying, ‘Know the Lord.’ All of them, from the least important to the most important, will know me,” declares the Lord, “because I will forgive their wickedness and I will no longer hold their sins against them.”

I want you to know that I’m not doing this for your sake, declares the Almighty Lord. Be ashamed and disgraced because of your ways, people of Israel.

But if he doesn’t, you should know, Your Majesty, we’ll never honor your gods or worship the gold statue that you set up.”

“Seventy sets of seven time periods have been assigned for your people and your holy city. These time periods will serve to bring an end to rebellion, to stop sin, to forgive wrongs, to usher in everlasting righteousness, to put a seal on a prophet’s vision, and to anoint the Most Holy One.

⌞The Lord declares,⌟ “On that day a fountain will be opened for David’s family and for those who live in Jerusalem to wash away ⌞their⌟ sin and stain.

She will give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus [He Saves], because he will save his people from their sins.”

Scripture also says that by the authority of Jesus people would be told to turn to God and change the way they think and act so that their sins will be forgiven. This would be told to people from all nations, beginning in the city of Jerusalem.

John saw Jesus coming toward him the next day and said, “Look! This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

In addition, all the prophets testify that people who believe in the one named Jesus receive forgiveness for their sins through him.”

Then Peter stood up with the eleven apostles. In a loud voice he said to them, “Men of Judea and everyone living in Jerusalem! You must understand this, so pay attention to what I say.

Peter answered them, “All of you must turn to God and change the way you think and act, and each of you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins will be forgiven. Then you will receive the Holy Spirit as a gift.

“You need to know that God has sent his salvation to people who are not Jews. They will listen.”

You and all the people of Israel must understand that this man stands in your presence with a healthy body because of the power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth. You crucified Jesus Christ, but God has brought him back to life.

God used his power to give Jesus the honored position—the one next to him on the heavenly throne as leader and savior. He did this to lead the people of Israel to him, to change the way they think and act, and to forgive their sins.

Through the blood of his Son, we are set free from our sins. God forgives our failures because of his overflowing kindness.

Be kind to each other, sympathetic, forgiving each other as God has forgiven you through Christ.

His Son paid the price to free us, which means that our sins are forgiven.

Jesus has been given a priestly work that is superior to the Levitical priests’ work. He also brings a better promise  from God that is based on better guarantees.

As Moses’ Teachings tell us, blood was used to cleanse almost everything, because if no blood is shed, no sins can be forgiven.

I’m writing to you, dear children, because your sins are forgiven through Christ.
