When they had finished doing everything that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and placed him in a tomb.

After he took it down from the cross, he wrapped it in linen. Then he laid the body in a tomb cut in rock, a tomb in which no one had ever been buried.

After Jesus had taken the vinegar, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and died.

After this, when Jesus knew that everything had now been finished, he said, “I’m thirsty.” He said this so that Scripture could finally be concluded.

He was placed in a tomb. He was brought back to life on the third day as the Scriptures predicted.

You murdered Jesus by hanging him on a cross. But the God of our ancestors brought him back to life.

Then he said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you. I told you that everything written about me in Moses’ Teachings, the Prophets, and the Psalms had to come true.”

The people who live in Jerusalem and their rulers didn’t know who Jesus was. They didn’t understand the prophets’ messages, which are read every day of rest—a holy day. So they condemned Jesus and fulfilled what the prophets had said.

Through your will and power, they did everything that you had already decided should be done.

By using men who don’t acknowledge Moses’ Teachings, you crucified Jesus, who was given over ⌞to death⌟ by a plan that God had determined in advance.

It was Friday evening, before the day of rest—a holy day,

There was a good man who had God’s approval. His name was Joseph. He was a member of the Jewish council,

“God has been helping me to this day so that I can stand and testify to important and unimportant people. I tell them only what the prophets and Moses said would happen.
