I answered, “Almighty Lord, I have never dishonored myself. From the time I was young until now, I have never eaten an animal that died by itself or was killed by other wild animals. No unclean meat has ever entered my mouth.”

The priests must never eat any bird or animal that has died naturally or was killed by other wild animals.

Daniel made up his mind not to harm himself by eating the king’s rich food and drinking the king’s wine. So he asked the chief-of-staff for permission not to harm himself in this way.

Separate clean and unclean  animals and birds. Never become disgusting by eating any animal or bird or anything that crawls on the ground. I have separated you from every unclean thing.

What goes into a person’s mouth doesn’t make him unclean. It’s what comes out of the mouth that makes a person unclean.”

Peter took him aside and objected to this. He said, “Heaven forbid, Lord! This must never happen to you!”

“But the wise bridesmaids replied, ‘We can’t do that. There won’t be enough for both of us. Go! Find someone to sell you some oil.’

A man with a serious skin disease came and bowed down in front of him. The man said to Jesus, “Sir, if you’re willing, you can make me clean.”

They saw that some of his disciples were unclean  because they ate without washing their hands.

But his mother spoke up, “Absolutely not! His name will be John.”

The woman said to him, “Sir, you don’t have anything to use to get water, and the well is deep. So where are you going to get this living water?

A voice told him, “Get up, Peter! Kill these animals, and eat them.”

He said to them, “You understand how wrong it is for a Jewish man to associate or visit with anyone of another race. But God has shown me that I should no longer call anyone impure or unclean.

“I answered, ‘Who are you, sir?’ “The person told me, ‘I’m Jesus from Nazareth, the one you’re persecuting.’

Saul asked, “Who are you, sir?” The person replied, “I’m Jesus, the one you’re persecuting.
