David married more concubines and wives from Jerusalem after he had come there from Hebron, and he fathered more sons and daughters.
The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cows,
So David realized that the Lord had established him as king of Israel and made his kingship famous for the sake of Israel, the Lord’s people.
He had 700 wives who were princesses and 300 wives who were concubines.
These were David’s sons who were born to him while he was in Hebron: His first son was Amnon, ⌞born⌟ to Ahinoam from Jezreel. The second was Daniel, ⌞born⌟ to Abigail from Carmel.
All of these were David’s sons. Besides these, there were the sons of the concubines. Tamar was their sister.
But Abijah became strong. He married 14 wives and fathered 22 sons and 16 daughters.
The king must never have a large number of wives, or he will turn away ⌞from God⌟. And he must never own a lot of gold and silver.
David also married Ahinoam of Jezreel. Both she and Abigail were his wives.
