2 Samuel 18:9

Absalom happened to come face to face with some of David’s men. He was riding on a mule, and the mule went under the tangled branches of a large tree. Absalom’s head became caught in the tree. So he was left hanging  in midair when the mule that was under him ran away.

Absalom’s servants did to Amnon as Absalom had ordered. Then all the king’s sons got up, mounted their mules, and fled.

At the end of every year, he used to cut his hair because it became heavy for him. When he cut the hair on his head and weighed it, it weighed five pounds according to the royal standard.

When Ahithophel saw that his advice hadn’t been followed, he saddled his donkey, left, and went home to his own city. He gave instructions to his family. Then he hanged himself, died, and was buried in his father’s tomb.

A man who saw this told Joab, “I saw Absalom hanging in a tree.”

Then Joab said, “I shouldn’t waste time with you like this.” He took three sharp sticks and plunged them into Absalom’s heart while he was still alive in the tree.

The fighting spread over the whole country. That day the woods devoured more people than the battle.

Aren’t there catastrophes for wicked people and disasters for those who do wrong?

The lamp of the person who curses his father and mother will be snuffed out in total darkness.

The eye that makes fun of a father and hates to obey a mother will be plucked out by ravens in the valley and eaten by young vultures.

“Whoever flees from a disaster will fall into a pit. Whoever climbs out of the pit will be caught in a trap. I will bring a year of punishment to Moab,” declares the Lord.

So he threw the money into the temple, went away, and hanged himself.

For example, Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’ and ‘Whoever curses father or mother must be put to death.’

Christ paid the price to free us from the curse that the laws in Moses’ Teachings bring by becoming cursed instead of us. Scripture says, “Everyone who is hung on a tree is cursed.”

never leave his dead body hung on a pole overnight. Be sure to bury him that same day, because anyone whose body is hung on a pole is cursed by God. The land that the Lord your God is giving you must never become unclean.

“Whoever curses his father or mother will himself be cursed.” Then all the people will say amen.

“Whoever has sexual intercourse with his father’s wife will be cursed. He has disgraced his father.” Then all the people will say amen.
