The watchman said, “It seems to me that the first one runs like Ahimaaz, Zadok’s son.” “He’s a good man,” the king said. “He must be coming with good news.”

When the watchman saw another man running, the watchman called, “There’s ⌞another⌟ man running alone.” The king said, “This one is also bringing good news.”

He was still speaking when Jonathan, son of the priest Abiathar, arrived. “Come in,” Adonijah said. “You’re an honorable man, so you must be bringing good news.”

So the watchman announced, “He has reached them, but he isn’t coming back. The troop’s leader is driving like a lunatic, like Jehu, grandson of Nimshi.”

Like the coolness of snow on a harvest day, ⌞so⌟ is a trustworthy messenger to those who send him: He refreshes his masters.

⌞Like⌟ cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from far away.

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces the good news, “All is well.” He brings the good news, announces salvation, and tells Zion that its God rules as king.

How can people tell the Good News if no one sends them? As Scripture says, “How beautiful are the feet of the messengers who announce the Good News.”
