David cried as he went up the Mount of Olives. He covered his head and walked barefoot. And all of the troops with him covered their heads and cried as they went.

So Zadok and Abiathar took the ark of God back to Jerusalem and stayed there.

The king covered his face and cried loudly, “My son Absalom! Absalom, my son, my son!”

Then Joab came into the house. “Today you have made all your men feel ashamed,” he said. “They saved your life and the lives of your sons, daughters, wives, and concubines  today.

After that, Mordecai returned to the king’s gate, but Haman hurried home. He was in despair and covered his head.

My tears are my food day and night. People ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”

Why are you discouraged, my soul? Why are you so restless? Put your hope in God, because I will still praise him. He is my savior and my God.

Groan silently. Don’t grieve for the person who dies. Tie on your turban, and put on your sandals. Don’t cover your face or eat the food that mourners eat.”

Leave your turbans on your heads and your sandals on your feet. Don’t grieve or cry! You will waste away because of your guilt and groan to one another.

On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, just east of Jerusalem. The Mount of Olives will be split in two, forming a very large valley from east to west. Half of the mountain will move toward the north, and the other half will move toward the south.

Blessed are those who mourn. They will be comforted.

When he came near Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives (as it was called), Jesus sent two of his disciples ahead of him.

By this time he was coming near the place where the road went down the Mount of Olives. Then the whole crowd of disciples began to praise God for all the miracles they had seen.

When he came closer and saw the city, he began to cry.

During the day Jesus would teach in the temple courtyard. But at night he would go to the Mount of Olives (as it was called) and spend the night there.

Jesus went out ⌞of the city⌟ to the Mount of Olives as he usually did. His disciples followed him.

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called the Mount of Olives. It is near Jerusalem, about half a mile away.

Be happy with those who are happy. Be sad with those who are sad.

If one part of the body suffers, all the other parts share its suffering. If one part is praised, all the others share in its happiness.
