Whenever the king of Aram was fighting against Israel, he asked for advice from his officers about where they were to camp.

King Benhadad of Aram gathered together his whole army. With him were 32 kings along with their horses and chariots. He went to blockade Samaria and fight against it.

Meanwhile, the officers of King Benhadad of Aram told him, “Their god is a god of the hills. That is why they were stronger than we were. However, if we fight them on the plain, we will be stronger than they are.

Benhadad told him, “I will give back the towns my father took from your father. You may set up trading centers in Damascus as my father did in Samaria.” Ahab said, “If you will put this into a treaty, I will let you go.” So Ahab made a treaty with Benhadad and let him go.

For three years there was no war between Aram and Israel.

The king of Aram had given orders to the 32 chariot commanders. He said, “Don’t fight anyone except the king of Israel.”

Later King Benhadad of Aram assembled his whole army. They went to Samaria and blockaded it.

Elisha said, “Pick it up.” The disciple reached for it and picked it up.

So the man of God would send a message to the king of Israel, “Be careful not to go by that place. The Arameans are hiding there.”

Plans are confirmed by getting advice, and with guidance one wages war.

No wisdom, no understanding, and no advice ⌞can stand up⌟ against the Lord.

Make plans for battle, but they will never succeed. Give orders, but they won’t be carried out, because God is with us!
