King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon arrived while his officers were blockading the city.

At that time the officers of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon attacked Jerusalem. (The city was blockaded.)

King Jehoiakin of Judah, his mother, officials, generals, and eunuchs surrendered to the king of Babylon. In the eighth year of his reign, the king of Babylon captured Jehoiakin.

I will set up war camps all around you. I will blockade you with towers. I will put up mounds of dirt around you.

Then I will come and take you away to a country like your own. It’s a country with grain and new wine, a country with bread and vineyards.

“Ask these rebellious people, ‘Don’t you know what this means?’ Tell them, ‘The king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and captured its king and its leaders. He brought them home with him to Babylon.

The nations from every region came together against him. They spread their net over him and caught him in their pit.
