At that time the officers of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon attacked Jerusalem. (The city was blockaded.)

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon arrived while his officers were blockading the city.

Jehoiakin did what the Lord considered evil, as his father had done.

The blockade of the city lasted until Zedekiah’s eleventh year as king.

Some of your own descendants will be taken away. They will become officials in the palace of the king of Babylon.’ ”

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon took Jehoiakin  (son of King Jehoiakim of Judah), the princes of Judah, the skilled workers, and the builders from Jerusalem into captivity and brought them to Babylon. After this, the Lord showed me two baskets of figs set in front of the Lord’s temple.

“The people of Israel are like scattered sheep that lions have chased. The first to devour them was the king of Assyria. The last to gnaw at their bones was King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.

So prophesy, son of man. Clap your hands! Let the sword strike again and again. It’s the sword for killing. It’s the sword for killing many people. It’s the sword that surrounds them.
