God's Word

The king stood beside the pillar and made a promise to the Lord that he would follow the Lord and obey his commands, instructions, and laws with all his heart and soul. He confirmed the terms of the promise written in this book. And all the people joined in the promise.

I brushed off my clothes and said, “In the same way, may God brush off from home and work everyone who refuses to keep this promise. In the same way, may everyone be brushed off and left with nothing.” Then the whole congregation said amen and praised the Lord. The people did what they had promised.

“We are making a binding agreement ⌞and putting it⌟ in writing because of all this. Our leaders, Levites, and priests are putting their seals on the document.”

Moses went and told the people all the Lord’s words and legal decisions. Then all the people answered with one voice, “We will do everything the Lord has told us to do.”

I ⌞advise⌟ you to obey the king’s commands because of the oath you took in God’s presence.

Recently, you changed and did what I consider right. You agreed to free your neighbors, and you made a promise in my presence, in the temple that is called by my name.

The Lord spoke his word to Jeremiah after King Zedekiah and all the people in Jerusalem promised to free their slaves.

if you take the oath, ‘As the Lord lives …’ in an honest, fair, and right way, then the nations will be blessed, and they will be honored by me.”

They will ask which road goes to Zion and turn in that direction. They will go there to make a permanent agreement with the Lord. It will not be forgotten.

Israel, what does the Lord your God want you to do? He wants you to fear him, follow all his directions, love him, and worship him with all your heart and with all your soul.

If you faithfully obey the commands that I’m giving you today, love the Lord your God, and serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

Worship the Lord your God, fear him, obey his commands, listen to what he says, serve him, and be loyal to him.

These are the terms of the promise  that the Lord commanded Moses to give to the Israelites in Moab. This was in addition to the promise the Lord gave them at Mount Horeb.

These are the commandments, laws, and rules Moses gave the Israelites after they had left Egypt.

These are the commands, laws, and rules the Lord your God commanded me to teach you. Obey them after you enter the land and take possession of it.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

I warn you today that if you forget the Lord your God and follow other gods, and if you serve them and bow down to them, you will certainly be destroyed.

You have come to Jesus, who brings the new promise  from God, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better message than Abel’s.

The God of peace brought the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus, back to life through the blood of an eternal promise.
