Hezekiah asked Isaiah, “What is the sign that the Lord will heal me and that I’ll go to the Lord’s temple the day after tomorrow?”

Abram asked, “Almighty Lord, how can I be certain that I will take possession of it?”

“ ‘And this will be a sign for you, Hezekiah: You will eat what grows by itself this year and next year. But in the third year you will plant and harvest, plant vineyards, and eat what is produced.

“Go back and say to Hezekiah, leader of my people, ‘This is what the Lord God of your ancestor David says: I’ve heard your prayer. I’ve seen your tears. Now I’m going to heal you. The day after tomorrow you will go to the Lord’s temple.

Then Isaiah said, “Get a fig cake, and put it on the boil so that the king will get well.”

Isaiah said, “This is your sign from the Lord that he will do what he promises. Do you want the shadow to go forward ten steps or come back ten steps?”

Then Isaiah said, “Take a fig cake, and place it over the boil so that the king will get well.”

Hezekiah asked, “What is the sign that I’ll go to the Lord’s temple?”

“Ask the Lord your God for a sign. It can be anything you want.”

So the Lord himself will give you this sign: A virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and she will name him Immanuel [God Is With Us].

After two days he will revive us. On the third day he will raise us so that we may live in his presence.

He said, “Two men went into the temple courtyard to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.

This is how you will recognize him: You will find an infant wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger.”

Gideon said to him, “If you find me acceptable, give me a sign that it is really you speaking to me.
