Whom are you defying and slandering? Against whom are you shouting? Who are you looking at so arrogantly? It is the Holy One of Israel!

As flames burn up straw and dry grass shrivels in flames, so their roots will rot, and their blossoms will blow away like dust. They have rejected the teachings of the Lord of Armies and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

He opposes every so-called god or anything that is worshiped and places himself above them, sitting in God’s temple and claiming to be God.

Israel and Judah haven’t been abandoned by their God, the Lord of Armies, although their land is guilty of abandoning the Holy One of Israel.

This is what the Almighty Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: You can be saved by returning to me. You can have rest. You can be strong by being quiet and by trusting me. But you don’t want that.

and all their intellectual arrogance that oppose the knowledge of God. We take every thought captive so that it is obedient to Christ.

Can an ax attack the person who cuts with it? Can a saw make itself greater than the person who saws with it? A rod cannot move the person who lifts it. A wooden stick cannot pick up a person.

A certain kind of person looks around arrogantly and is conceited.

They verbally attack heaven, and they order people around on earth.

The Lord your God may have heard all the words of the field commander. His master, the king of Assyria, sent him to defy the living God. The Lord your God may punish him because of the message that the Lord your God heard. Pray for the few people who are left.”

You are still blocking my people from leaving.

Again and again they tested God, and they pushed the Holy One of Israel to the limit.

The king will say, “I did this with my own two powerful hands. I did this with my wisdom, because I am so clever. I’ve eliminated the boundaries of nations. I’ve looted treasuries. I’ve brought down people like a mighty man.

Then it attacked the commander of the army so that it took the daily burnt offering from him and wrecked his holy place.
