At this time King Hazael of Aram fought against Gath and conquered it. He was also determined to attack Jerusalem.

Then Asa took all the silver and gold that was left in the treasuries of the Lord’s temple and the royal palace and turned them over to his officials. King Asa sent them to Damascus to Aram’s King Benhadad, son of Tabrimmon and grandson of Hezion.

If anyone escapes from Hazael’s sword, Jehu will kill him. And if anyone escapes from Jehu’s sword, Elisha will kill him.

So in those days the Lord began to take away some of Israel’s territory. Hazael defeated Jehu’s army throughout Israel’s territory

east of the Jordan River: the entire region of Gilead (the territory belonging to Gad, Reuben, and Manasseh) from Aroer, which is near the Arnon River, to Gilead and Bashan.

So the Lord became angry with Israel and put it at the mercy of King Hazael of Aram and Hazael’s son Benhadad as long as they lived.

Ahaz took the silver and gold he found in the Lord’s temple and in the treasury in the royal palace and sent them to the king of Assyria as a present.

After this, David defeated and crushed the Philistines. He took Gath and its surrounding villages from them.

Beriah and Shema were the heads of the families who lived in Aijalon. They forced out the people living in Gath.

“Now, listen to the Lord’s word, you people who are left in Judah. This is what the Lord of Armies, the God of Israel, says: Suppose you’re determined to go to Egypt, and you go and live there.

“Then the northern king will decide to invade with the power of his entire kingdom, and some decent men will invade with him. He will give the southern king his daughter as a wife in order to destroy the southern kingdom. But this will not succeed or help him.

“The same instructions apply to the offering for sin and the guilt offering. Both offerings belong to the priest to make peace with the Lord.

Every grain offering, whether baked in an oven or prepared in a skillet or a frying pan, belongs to the priest who offers it.

They will all come for violence. Every face will be directed forward. They will gather prisoners like sand.

That part of the most holy offerings which is not burned belongs to you. It may come from a grain offering, an offering for sin, or a guilt offering. Whatever is brought to me as a most holy offering will belong to you and your sons.

The time was coming closer for Jesus to be taken to heaven. So he was determined to go to Jerusalem.

But the people didn’t welcome him, because he was on his way to Jerusalem.

So David went with his 600 men to King Achish of Gath, Moach’s son.
