God's Word

I, Paul, make my appeal to you with the gentleness and kindness of Christ. I’m the one who is humble when I’m with you but forceful toward you when I’m not with you.

I know that someone is saying that my letters are powerful and strong, but that I’m a weakling and a terrible speaker.

Place my yoke  over your shoulders, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble. Then you will find rest for yourselves

I, Paul, can guarantee that if you allow yourselves to be circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.

Brothers and sisters, in view of all we have just shared about God’s compassion, I encourage you to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, dedicated to God and pleasing to him. This kind of worship is appropriate for you.

If I must brag, I will brag about the things that show how weak I am.

When I came to you, I was weak. I was afraid and very nervous.

I am John, your brother. I share your suffering, ruling, and endurance because of Jesus. I was ⌞exiled⌟ on the island of Patmos because of God’s word and the testimony about Jesus.

Dear friends, since you are foreigners and temporary residents ⌞in the world⌟, I’m encouraging you to keep away from the desires of your corrupt nature. These desires constantly attack you.

However, I would prefer to make an appeal on the basis of love. I, Paul, as an old man and now a prisoner for Christ Jesus,

I, Paul, am writing this greeting with my own hand. In every letter that I send, this is proof that I wrote it.

I, a prisoner in the Lord, encourage you to live the kind of life which proves that God has called you.

You know that the first time I brought you the Good News I was ill.

I’ll brag about this person, but I won’t brag about myself unless it’s about my weaknesses.

I’m ashamed to admit it, but Timothy and I don’t have the strength to do those things to you. Whatever other people dare to brag about, I, like a fool, can also brag about.

Look at the plain facts! If anyone is confident he belongs to Christ, he should take note that we also belong to Christ.

I beg you that when I am with you I won’t have to deal forcefully with you. I expect I will have to because some people think that we are only guided by human motives.

I have great confidence in you, and I have a lot of reasons to be proud of you. Even as we suffer, I’m encouraged and feel very happy.

Since we are God’s coworkers, we urge you not to let God’s kindness  be wasted on you.

Therefore, we are Christ’s representatives, and through us God is calling you. We beg you on behalf of Christ to become reunited with God.

Since we have confidence ⌞in the new promise⌟, we speak very boldly.

We have given up our wisdom for Christ, but you have insight because of Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are honored, but we are dishonored.

However, I’ve written you a letter, parts of which are rather bold, as a reminder to you. I’m doing this because God gave me the gift

Isaiah said very boldly, “I was found by those who weren’t looking for me. I was revealed to those who weren’t asking for me.”

This was the part of the Scriptures that the official was reading: “He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. He was like a sheep that is silent when its wool is cut off. He didn’t open his mouth.

“Tell the people of Zion, ‘Your king is coming to you. He’s gentle, riding on a donkey, on a colt, a young pack animal.’ ”

Rejoice with all your heart, people of Zion! Shout in triumph, people of Jerusalem! Look! Your King is coming to you: He is righteous and victorious. He is humble and rides on a donkey, on a colt, a young pack animal.

Ride on victoriously in your majesty for the cause of truth, humility, and righteousness. Let your right hand teach you awe-inspiring things.

When I come to visit you, would you prefer that I punish you or show you love and a gentle spirit?

This is the reason I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus  for those of you who are not Jewish.

Let everyone know how considerate you are. The Lord is near.

This is on the condition that you continue in faith without being moved from the solid foundation of the hope that the Good News contains. You’ve heard this Good News of which I, Paul, became a servant. It has been spread throughout all creation under heaven.

I, Paul, promise to pay it back. I’m writing this with my own hand. I won’t even mention that you owe me your life.
