On the twenty-third day of the seventh month, Solomon dismissed the people to their tents. They rejoiced with cheerful hearts for all the blessings the Lord had given David, Solomon, and his people Israel.

On the eighth day he dismissed the people. They blessed the king and went to their tents. They rejoiced with cheerful hearts for all the blessings the Lord had given his servant David and his people Israel.

Hezekiah and all the people were overjoyed because of what God had done for the people. Everything had happened so quickly.

The city of Jerusalem was filled with joy. Nothing like this had happened in Jerusalem since the days of King Solomon of Israel.

“Now arise, and come to your resting place, Lord God— you and the ark of your power. Clothe your priests, Lord God, with salvation. Let your godly ones rejoice in what is good.

Solomon finished the Lord’s temple and the royal palace and completed everything he had in mind for the Lord’s temple and his own palace.

On the eighth day there was an assembly. They had observed the dedication of the altar for seven days and celebrated the festival for ⌞another⌟ seven days.

Then he told them, “Go, eat rich foods, drink sweet drinks, and send portions to those who cannot provide for themselves. Today is a holy day for the Lord. Don’t be sad because the joy you have in the Lord is your strength.”

Serve the Lord cheerfully. Come into his presence with a joyful song.

Brag about his holy name. Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.

so that I may see the prosperity of your chosen ones, find joy in our people’s happiness, and brag with the people who belong to you.

Be glad and find joy in the Lord, you righteous people. Sing with joy, all whose motives are decent.

You made me find joy in what you have done, O Lord. I will sing joyfully about the works of your hands.

Moses’ father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, heard about everything God had done for Moses and his people Israel and how the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt.

On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, at the Festival of Booths, he must do the same as on those seven days. He must prepare the same offerings for sin, burnt offerings, grain offerings, and olive oil.

He took Paul and Silas upstairs into his home and gave them something to eat. He and his family were thrilled to be believers in God.

The believers had a single purpose and went to the temple every day. They were joyful and humble as they ate at each other’s homes and shared their food.

Enjoy yourselves in the presence of the Lord your God along with your sons, daughters, male and female slaves, and the Levites. (The Levites live in your cities because they have no land of their own as you have.)

Instead, you, your sons and daughters, male and female slaves, and the Levites who live in your cities must eat these in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose. There in the presence of the Lord your God enjoy everything you’ve worked for.

There, in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families will eat and enjoy everything you’ve worked for, because the Lord your God has blessed you.

Enjoy yourselves in the presence of the Lord your God along with your sons, daughters, male and female slaves, the Levites who live in your cities, the foreigners, orphans, and widows who live among you. Enjoy yourselves at the place the Lord your God will choose for his name to live.

Always be joyful in the Lord! I’ll say it again: Be joyful!
