Then they brought out the king’s son, gave him the crown and the religious instructions, and Jehoiada and his sons made him king by anointing him. They said, “Long live the king!”

But Jehoshebath, daughter of the king and sister of Ahaziah, took Ahaziah’s son Joash. She saved him from being killed with the king’s other sons, and she put him and his nurse in a bedroom. Jehoshebath was the daughter of King Jehoram and wife of Jehoiada the priest. Because she was also Ahaziah’s sister, she hid Joash from Athaliah. So he wasn’t killed.

When Athaliah heard the people running and praising the king, she went into the Lord’s temple, where the people were.

He established written instructions for Jacob’s people. He gave his teachings to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to make them known to their children

I found my servant David. I anointed him with my holy oil.

They should go to the teachings and to the written instructions. If people don’t speak these words, it is because it doesn’t dawn on them.

The crowd that went ahead of him and that followed him was shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

Jesus was made a little lower than the angels, but we see him crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death. Through God’s kindness  he died on behalf of everyone.

Blessed are those who endure when they are tested. When they pass the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Didn’t God choose poor people in the world to become rich in faith and to receive the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?

His eyes are flames of fire. On his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him, but only he knows what it is.

the 24 leaders bow in front of the one who sits on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever. They place their crowns in front of the throne and say,

Around that throne were 24 other thrones, and on these thrones sat 24 leaders wearing white clothes. They had gold crowns on their heads.

You made them a kingdom and priests for our God. They will rule as kings on the earth.”

Samuel took a flask of olive oil, poured it on Saul’s head, kissed him, and said, “The Lord has anointed you to be ruler of his people Israel. You will rule his people and save them from all their enemies. This will be the sign that the Lord has anointed you  to be ruler of his people.

Samuel asked the people, “Do you see whom the Lord has chosen? There is no one like him among all the people.” Then all the people shouted, “Long live the king!”
